High school kids enjoy being little again with the pre-school students. We engaged in a Christmas Game - "The Whoville Express". Students were either Whoville citizens or the Grinch. Very similar to the movie, the Grinch were preventing Christmas from coming. At the end of the game, Whoville citizens were successful in getting Christmas back.

One of my favorite things to do is open the minds of kids to new activities and forms of exercise and fun. I learned about Spikeball at a National Conference a few years ago. Once I played I fell in love with it. It demonstrates maximum teamwork and effort. The purpose of the game resembles volleyball, except the net is on the ground rather than above ground. Students seemed to really enjoy this activity because they were able to compete with one another and it was something brand new. For a few weeks students in both elementary and high school will be working with a Hockey Unit. Within the unit students will learn the fundamentals and mechanics it takes to be successful. Students will also participate in compeitions to check their accuracy of passing and shooting. Once to a mastery level students played full games of hockey! |
